Henley Ladies 2s delivered a well-deserved 5-3 victory against Windsor in a thrilling match that showcased the team’s resilience and attacking prowess.
The game started with Henley on the front foot, and they were rewarded with the opening goal, a brilliant team effort finished off by Sophie Rainbow. However, Windsor quickly responded with a sharp counter-attack, equalizing through a well-taken goal. Henley then found themselves behind when a defensive 'technical error' gifted Windsor their second goal, leaving Henley trailing 2-1 at halftime.
In need of inspiration, coach Hayley delivered an energizing team talk during the break. Her words clearly had an impact, as Henley came out fired up for the second half. The team’s determination was quickly reflected on the scoreboard, with Kat Green converting three successive penalty corners in style, using her signature disguise shot to devastating effect.
Windsor, not to be outdone, pulled one back with a well-executed penalty corner of their own, but Henley remained undeterred. Showing their fighting spirit, Henley pushed forward once more and sealed the match with a final goal, a perfectly worked team play finished clinically by Kirsten Botha.
Henley’s strong collective performance and relentless energy were the keys to their victory. Special mention goes to Anna Wray, who was named Player of the Match for her outstanding contribution throughout the game. A fantastic display of team spirit and skill, and a hard-earned win.
