Club Charter


For its members, Henley Hockey Club will provide:
  • Competitive and sociable hockey for Men’s, Ladies’ and Youth teams within a safe and friendly environment
  • A clean and welcoming clubhouse
  • Coaching and training
  • Catering for home matches
  • A bar
  • Social events throughout the season
  • A management team who will listen to your feedback and comments

By becoming a member of Henley Hockey Club, you agree to:
  • Not being selected to play if you haven’t paid your subscription by 31st October and to pay an increased subscription if you then want to play after 31st October
  • Pay match fees on time and in full
  • Arrive at the arranged meet time and place punctually for both home and away games
  • Call your captain as soon as possible should you suddenly become unavailable
  • Show respect for all players, coaches, umpires and officials both on and off the pitch by controlling your language, actions, and opinions at all times
  • Play to win but be a sporting loser should the occasion arise
  • Show respect for our neighbours who share the sports facilities – toilets are located in the clubhouse or changing rooms
  • Readily take your turn in umpiring and helping at training where you can
  • Support social events by attending and paying for them on time
  • Support other Henley teams
  • Go training if you can
  • Wear standard Henley playing kit for matches, available at the club’s kit supplier
  • Keep your personal details up to date on the website
  • Give feedback to the captains and the Committee
  • Accept that Henley HC does not provide personal accident insurance and therefore consider arranging your own cover
  • Abide by club rules and regulations and the England Hockey Code of Ethics

Captains guide:
  • You are responsible for the behaviour of your team and supporters for the duration of the game
  • You may not select non-members to play (eg those who have not paid subs)
  • Team selection is made with consultation with team captains above and below you
  • You are responsible for, but can delegate some or all of, the following:

  1. Arranging and/or confirming umpires
  2. Confirming game time and location with opposition captains
  3. Ensuring opposition and officials are welcomed at our home games, know where their changing room is and that teas are available in the clubhouse after the game
  4. Ensuring opposition and officials are supplied with teas after the game]
  5. Cancelling pitches and teas by contacting the Men's or Ladies Fixture Secretary well in advance if possible
  6. Collecting match fees, documenting payers/non-payers using duplicate pad, and depositing collected match fees promptly in letter box next to bar
  7. Establishing the availability of players at least two weeks ahead
